Sample Interview Questions And Answers

Many job seekers would like to see some sample interview questions and answers, that's why I list some most asked questions with answers here. However, the key to all interview questions is to understand what's behind the question and what does the interviewer REALLY want to know? For example, the interviewer may ask you, "Where do you see yourself in five years." The real concern behind this question is, "Are you committed to this job and field? Will you leave this company after only 3 or 4 months?" Remember that the employer has only four basic questions in an interview: "Are you interested in this job?" "Can you do this job?" "Are you motivated to do this job?" and " Can you fit in our organization?" Now you can find out the real concern behind each interview question and address that concern. Use this technique in your interview questions and answers, then you'll succeed. Below are some sample interview questions and answers.

1. Tell me about yourself.

Usually, this is the first question to get the interview started. Keep you answer to one or two minutes. Use your resume as a basis and talk a little bit about your education, experience and skills. Address the employer's concern: "Are you qualified for this job?"

2. What do you know about our company?

Address the employer's concern: "Are you interested in this job?" To answer this question, you should do your homework and find out the company's products, management team, history, goals, philosophy, etc. before the interview.

3. Why did you leave your last job?

Address the employer's underlying concern: "Are you committed to this field and job?" Don't say bad things about your former employer. You can say something like you want a more challenging job, you want to move to be closer to your family, you were laid off since your former employer was downsizing, etc.

4. What are your strengths?

You know the hidden concern here, right? It's you time to showcase your positive attribute related to the job. Use examples to back up your words.

5. What are your weaknesses?

Don't be fooled here, the employer now want a reason why he shouldn't hire you. Give a real weakness that's beyond your control or might be seen as a strength.

6. Can you work under pressure?

Hidden concern: "Are you motivated to do the job?" Don't just give a yes or no answer. Explain.

7. Why do you want to work for us?

What's your interest and motivation? Do you homework before the interview and find out all available information about the company.

8. Why did you choose your college major?

Are you interested in this field?

9. Why should I hire you?

This question is usually asked near the end of the interview. The employer wants to hear one more time, what you have to offer. Showcase your selling points, mention your interest, motivation, abilities and why you can fit in the organization.

10. Tell me about your past relationships with coworkers/supervisors?

Can you fit in this organization? Don't say bad things about your former coworkers/supervisors. Use examples to explain you are an easy-going person.

11. How do you handle pressure and stress?

Can you do this job? You're not going to yell at others when you're under pressure, are you?

12. What are most important to you in your job?

What's your motivation? Money and benefits are not the only things you care in your job, you want to help others, solve problems, have challenges, be recognized for your efforts, etc.
